Many major financial institutions have stopped funding MTR -- the devastating practice of Mountaintop Removal. So why hasn't CHASE?
JP Morgan Chase continues to back loans to coal companies like Massey Energy, which repeatedly violates safety regulations and has replaced thousands of mining jobs with millions of pounds of explosives.
In Appalachia, the equivalent of one Hiroshima bomb is detonated every other week, leaving behind a moonscape incapable of supporting life in what was once the most biodiverse temperate forest on earth.
Toxic sludge is held in unreinforced ponds and to date 1,500 miles of pristine rivers and streams have been permanently buried by the rubble.
